Common Questions

1. What is circumcision?
Circumcision is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of the foreskin covering the head of the penis. It is commonly performed for cultural, religious, and medical reasons.
2. At what age can circumcision be performed?
We perform circumcision on babies and children. The procedure is most straightforward and heals fastest when done in infancy, typically between 0-12 months. If your child is over 12 months please contact us.
3. What method do you use?
We use the Plastibell® method, a safe, quick, and minimally invasive procedure that is widely trusted for infant and baby circumcision.
4. How long does the procedure take?
The actual circumcision takes only a few minutes. However, please allow around 90 minutes in total for your appointment, including pre-assessment, the procedure itself, and post-operative observation.
5. Is the procedure painful for babies?
No, we use local anaesthetic to ensure the baby does not feel pain during the procedure. Some discomfort may occur afterward, but this is typically minimal and well-tolerated.
6. How should I prepare my baby for the appointment?
Ensure your baby has not received any vaccinations within 7 days of the appointment. Please bring spare nappies, wipes, and feeding items. Your baby should be fed and rested before the procedure if possible.
7. What happens after the circumcision?
After the procedure, we monitor your baby for up to one hour. You will be given detailed aftercare instructions and access to our 24-hour support line in case you have any concerns.
8. When will the Plastibell ring fall off?
The ring typically falls off naturally within 7 days. If it has not fallen off by day 7, please contact our team for review.
9. What signs of complications should I look for?
Minor swelling and spotting in the nappy are normal. However, if you see heavy bleeding, discharge, or signs of infection (e.g., foul smell, increasing redness, or fever), contact us immediately.
10. Can my baby bathe after circumcision?
Avoid bathing for the first 24 hours. After that, gentle lukewarm water baths are recommended twice a day to keep the area clean until healing is complete.
11. How much does the circumcision cost?
Prices vary based on age. You can view our Pricing page for a full breakdown. All procedures include consultation, anaesthetic, aftercare advice, and 24/7 support.
12. Who will perform the circumcision procedure?
Unlike other clinics, circumcisions carried out by us are performed by Nhs qualified general practitioners with years of experience.
13. How do I book an appointment?
Contact our reception team via phone or email. We offer flexible appointment slots throughout the week.
